Toys
Please note that this section contains my personal notes from my readings on this topic.
———————————————————————————————————
I decided early on to avoid toys that are made in China because it just seemed not to be worth the health risk, which seemed to eliminate most toys. Until my daughter was two years old, I only bought toys from Haba and other European wooden toys.
Since I hate shopping in person, I buy online at Amazon and Oompa. I haven’t spent a lot of time researching other toys sites but haven’t felt the need to either because I’ve been happy with these two options (Generally, Oompa has better prices). I’ve started a list of our favorite toys, which are broken into age brackets (since I started this site when my daughter was 1.5 years, the first year is a blur so the category is <12 months. I’ll refine during experience with 2nd child!). Everything on the list (especially until age 24 months) is high quality, non-toxic and adorable; and were purchased after reading online customer reviews.
Since my daughter has turned two year old (she’s 27 months as I write this), I have become a bit more relaxed about the toxicity of her toys.
