The Toxic Sandbox (2007) by Libby McDonald; page 91:
In 2003 Greenpeace distributed a toy report card, grading twenty-one major manufacturers on their use of PVC and phthalates in toys and other articles for children. Top marks went to these companies: Brio, Evenflo, Gerber, International Playthings (Prime Time and Early Start), Lego Systems, Tiny Love, Rosie Hippo Toys, North Star Toys, and Nova Natural Toys and Crafts.
Wood toys are an excellent alternative to plastics. Commonly available well-known brands include: Plan, Haba, Jake’s Room, Turner Toys, and Holztiger.
